Obituary of Lois Elizabeth Batten

Please share a memory of Lois to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

…Tough, smart, critical, stubborn, loving mother of Lake, Mike and Dave, great grandmother of Oak,  grandmother of Randal, Cameron, Faith, Camilo, Daniel, Jon and Jamie, friend to many, a powerful link in life’s chain. Lois died in Midland, on Friday March 9, 2018. She is survived by her husband Don, her sister Joan, her brother Jim McClelland and his wife, Jeanie.

Born in Toronto, she graduated from Bishop Strachan School. Inspired by her dad, Dr. Jim McClelland, and like her mom and her sisters, Margaret and Mary Louise, she trained as a nurse, becoming an expert bridge player along the way. Later, she became a teacher, married Don Batten, ran a small business in Honey Harbour, and generally kept the soul of our family alive and connected across time and distance.

We will celebrate her life at the Baxter Ward Community Centre, Honey Harbour, this Sunday, March 18th, at 1 pm. All helpers welcome a little earlier, to bring something nice to eat,  help set up or clean up. If you are so inclined, please make a donation in her name to Médecins Sans Frontiers.
