Obituary of James Gordon "Jim" Allen
Passed away quickly but peacefully on Friday May 23, 2025 at Hillcrest Long Term Care Home in Midland, in his 88th year. He is predeceased by his wife Mary. Loving father of his only son, David Allen and his wife Christine of Newmarket, and a proud grandfather of Cameron (Jen) and Drew (Camille) and a great-grandfather to Rosie.
Jim was born in Moncton, NB in 1936 and lived and worked in many provinces across Canada before settling down in Fesserton with Mary at the Andrews family farm in the early 60s. He worked in a variety of jobs and industries, such as a mechanic at CCL in Penetanguishene and driving for Midland Transit. However, he was probably best known for driving charter buses across the US and Canada for Penetang Midland Coach lines, which resulted in many legendary trips and stories.
After Mary's death in 2009, Jim managed to live independently on his own (along with Princess, his beloved miniature Yorkie) for 15 years, until entering hospital at the end of September 2024. All in all, it can be said that Jim lived life on his own terms.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Hillcrest for the high level of care they provided to Jim over his last few months.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Coldwater Funeral Home on Thursday July 10th at 3:30pm.
