I came across a Facebook post asking if you would remember your 5th grade teacher. In a blink of an eye, I pictured myself many years before at Gracedale Oubluc School sitting before Mr. Cowdy. Some teachers have a special something that stays with you forever. He had that special something. My deepest condolences to Mr. Cowdy’s wife and family ❤️

Mr. Cowdy was my Grade 6 teacher at Gracedale Public School, he was an incredibly warm and caring teacher, I fondly remember our daily Jumbled Word puzzle. I was the spelling winner that year and received a beautiful painting of a farm house that he created that I still treasure.
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to all how knew him, as an educator he inspired so many of us and his legacy lives on through his family and his students.

We were so sorry to hear about Ron's passing. Ron and I taught at Daystrom P.S. for many years. He was a dedicated teacher with admirable patience. I have many fond memories of our trips with the Gr 5 classes to MONO CLIFFS and Lake ST George. He was an awesome outdoorsman and a true gentleman.
Rest in peace my dear friend.

My heartfelt condolences go out to the family. I knew Ron Cowdy through his good friends Mike Z and Pat T in teaching at Daystrom and we all went out to lunch on some occasions. However, I wanted to share with the family that my brother, Bernardo Cascone, was taught by him at Gracedale growing up. When I told him of this sad new, he replied "oh no not Mr. Cowdy. He taught me how to play chess and said I was tough as nails!" He inspired many and will not be forgotten.
