Obituary of Rita Mary Polkinghorne

Passed away at the Georgian Bay General Hospital, Midland on Wednesday December 2, 2015 at the age of 92, formerly of Waubaushene and Coldwater. Beloved wife of the late Ken Polkinghorne. Loved mother of Roger Polkinghorne (Jane) of Owen Sound and mother-in-law of Marilyn Polkinghorne of Sundridge. Predeceased by her sons Eric and Tommy and by her daughter Sandra Gibson. Loving grandmother of Amy, Lindsay, Ryan, Ron, Belinda, Melissa, Kenneth, and Rebecca. Great grandmother of 5 great grandchildren. Predeceased by her brothers Eric, Norman, Ernest, Harry, Robert, David, and Frank, and by her sisters Elsie Caswell, Alma Bangs, and Helen Polkinghorne. Rita served with the CWAC during WWII, Life member of the R.C.L. Beaverbrook Branch #316 “Ladies Auxiliary”, Waubaushene and a member of the R.C.L. Beaverbrook Branch #316, Waubaushene. The family will honour Rita’s life with a visitation at the COLDWATER FUNERAL HOME, Coldwater on Saturday from 2-5pm. A funeral service will be held at the Coldwater United Church, Coldwater on Sunday December 6th at 2pm. Cremation to follow. As an expression of sympathy, donations in memory of Rita may be made to the Coldwater United Church, R.C.L. Beaverbrook Branch #316, Waubaushene or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
