I was saddened to hear from Frank Barrett of Larry's passing. My sincerest sympathies to Larry's family and friends. Larry, Frank, Paul Grenfell and myself graduated together in 1958 from the Honours program in Geography from The University of Toronto. Needless to say being a small group we bonded very well. Not only through the classes we took together, but also through the many field trips, field courses, walking together down Philosophers' Walk, and through a wide variety of social events. Paul and I had the unique and new experience of spending a weekend with Larry at the Hodgins Camp in northern Ontario. I say a new experience because Paul and I were relative newcomers to Canada, having migrated from England shortly before starting University. I remember Larry as having a keen intellect who loved the outdoors, and someone with a perpetual smile on his face with a great sense of humor. Over the years we didn't have a lot of contact except for occasional reunions at the University. I will always remember Larry as a kind, warm, fun-loving gentleman. His memory lives on. What more can we ask of anyone?!

I am sending my love to Dan Cheryl and Jackoline. They probably wont remember me but I roomed with your mother Nancy way back in 1958-1959. I have thought of your family often and they have made their way to our open Christmas House Party several times in later years..We also saw you in Calgary in 1967 when the children were young.
I would like to say that I am very pleased that Linda was able to be with him when he needed her. She went away up and beyond to give him whatever he needed. So I thant her for that. Bless you Linda.
Bill and Dianne Gaska and family.

Dear Danny, Jackie and Cherly: I am shocked, saddened, and sorry to read of your father's death. As you probably know we were a class of four in Honours Geography. With Paul Grenfell's death from brain cancer several years ago only Bryan Thompson and I remain. We were a close knit group in a very demanding course. What you will not know is that your father saved my undergraduate career. I studied fiendishly hard but failed almost all my 2nd year mid-term exams. That was when your dad taught me how to study by summarizing by notes. I have used his system for the rest of my academic life i.e. M..A.,Ontario College of Education, and PhD. Of course my wife Kathleen and I fondly remember Nancy. We were able to attend her visitation but unfortunately tomorrow morning I have an appointment with a retinologist to get needles in both eyes after which I can not drive. This is due to a diabetic condition and Kathleen now has a brace on her leg and can not drive. I will let Bryan know and Dave Wood who hired your dad to teach a York. I will also let the Dept of Geography know. Sadly Atkinson College no longer exists. Ten years ago we meet at Victoria College for our 50th anniversary .and we had looked forward to meeting him next June. He was such an athletic man I never dreamt that he would not be there.
Please send an email to let me know what caused his death.
