Dear Elfriede, Robert, Andre and family,
On behalf of the Englert and Rygus families, our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Josl.
We have many happy memories of all generations of our family skiing at Mt St Louis, including Opa Englert and, many years of Sunday ski school for the children. Josl always took the time to say hello and have a conversation, including words of encouragement for the children.
I know my father was delighted to have another Austrian family on Crooked Six island on Six Mile Lake and, another opportunity to socialize with Elfriede and Josl.
May Josl rest in peace and, may you be comforted by the many memories of him.
Losing a loved one is never easy and especially painful at Christmas time.
We ourselves are mourning the loss of my sister Susanne, just age 64 on November 21. We are joined with you in grief.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all,
Andrea Englert-Rygus

Very sorry to hear of Josl's passing. My fond memory of Josl is the time my Dad, Art Keys, who was the foreman at Horseshoe Valley from day one, took me to your ski shop and had your Dad fit me with a pair of ski boots. It was an exciting day, and I was given a free pass to try my new boots on your hills. Unfortunately, I was not use to a firm ski boot and came back to the chalet with tears in my eyes, as I couldn't ski. Josl and his wife, were very kind to me as they could see I was upset. They told me I would get use to them, and they were right, as I started carving the hills up in no time. I do not know what led to my Dad taking to Mt. St. Louis for boots, but I do believe there would have been a conversation between Josl and my Dad, and Josl gave my Dad the push to get me the new boots.
It was an exciting time with Snow Valley, Mt. St. Louis and Horseshoe Valley, in the very early days and friendly competition.
