Hello
I just learned of Andy’s passing after a random search today. I knew Andy when I was a small child growing up in Toronto in the 60’s and early 70’s. He dated my Mother at the time and was very influential to me. I have only loving memories of him. Children recognize kindness and Andy was kind. He was caring and a kind of father figure, he brought me happiness and comfort that I never have forgotten. Although I only knew him for a short time many many years ago he made a lasting impression on me. I am glad to discover he went on to have a happy, joyful life full of love, family and adventure. I wish I had the chance to see him again to say thanks for the love he gave me.

My Uncle Andy had something that most people in this day and age lack ..... That was star quality...... He lived a remarkable life, that's for sure ...... The last time I saw him ( in the early 2000's at my house in Steveston ) he spoke about working for Walt Disney and some very interesting paranormal events he witnessed first hand when he was in University .......... If I can measure up to being half the man ( and artist ) that he was..... I will be doing well...... I pray tell that he is now on the other side with our family, his friends, and loved ones.......I have 3 of his painting in my house.... and they cause me to always think of him ( each and every day )

Dear Joan, and family,
I was deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Andy. I will always remember
him as a kind , intelligent, creative person, full of life, and always with a sense of humour, and I enjoyed our talks about our common interest in art, as well as his
willingness to listen to my differing political and social issues to his. I will miss his infectious and sometimes mischievous grin, and have used some of his jokes
for decades with others. He has put the light of life in many a soul as well as the
ability for others to see the beauty of this world.
Rest in peace and happiness Andy.....

When I was very active with the Photo Arts Group of Charlotte County, in Punta Gorda, Florida, Andy & Joan Nixon were members. Andy was such a character and could make you laugh at the simplest things. His smile was infectious~!! His talent showed through everything he did~!! I missed them after our photography group disbanded, but I have to admit... I did think of them often~!! RIP Andy~!!
Take care Joan and know you and your family are in my prayers.

I want to take this opportunity to say goodbye to my Mother's brother and my Uncle -- Andrew Nixon. I knew him as a gentle mild mannered man with an excellent sense of humor and an infectious laugh. An artist held in high regard , his paintings of the highest quality in both composition and subject matter always amazed and impressed me.
One of my vivid memories of Uncle Andy as a artist was watching him paint a land scape behind my parents house of a field and a barn. I was a dull day with a light drizzle of rain but he painted away regardless. The picture took form and color one step at a time as he created what he saw in oils on a piece of canvas. I sat on the back step beside him in the rain hypnotized by is ability to transfer what he saw to a this flat piece of material. His ability always amazed me and impressed me as I previously said but watching the artist at work was ,as I came to understand in later life, a privilege.
Although my contact with him in my adult life was limited , I have fond and copious memories of him from my youth. God hold him close to his breast and give him peace. Thank you Uncle Andy for your contribution of the Nixon experience to my life mosaic. RIP - I will miss you but always remember you,
Your nephew -------- Kenneth Walton---------------------
At this time of sadness for the Nixon family , my family shares your sadness at this time of personal loss. No one is ever gone as long as they are remembered and Uncle Andy was one of those forever memorable people. --K--

Hi my name is Karen Abi-Jaoude (McCracken).
Mr. Nixon was my art teacher at Eastview, Barrie. (In the 70's)
I must say I loved my art classes with Mr. Nixon. He inspired me to enjoy painting as a hobby.

Hello...I’m very sorry for your families loss...I was a student of Mr Nixon at Eastview S.S. here in Barrie...I have fond memories of Mr Nixon as he showed us his ability in the art world...I remember seeing him walk the halls...I remember him taking us across the road with our pads of paper to draw nature, be it grass or a bug or a flower...I loved going across there and I loved my art classes with him...as a result of both my art teachers in high school, I too am an artist now...I trained as an Interior designer, but much like Mr Nixon, I followed my heart when I retired...thank you sir...I just wanted to say he will be missed but NEVER forgotten by me ❤️
