Loving husband of Janet.  Beloved son of Everett of Carley and the late Joan (November 2011).  Loved father of Daina Johnstone (Chris), Dwain Johnstone (Dawn), and Josh Randle (Nichole).  “Adopted” father to Stephan Wittmaak.  Grandfather of Parker, Chase, Tinisha, Chloe, Kylee-Anne, Jonias, Joanna, and Connor.  Step grandfather of Owen, Jacqueline, Curtis, Alexandra, Sara, and McKenzie.   Dear brother of Terry Johnstone (Eunice) of Oro, Rick Johnstone (Helen) of Orillia, and the late Doug Johnstone (May 2012).  Will be missed by his niece Shelby Robinson, and his best friends David Morano, George Devitt, and Kerry Walton.

Murray attended Park Street Collegiate in Orillia, was employed by the Ministry of Natural Resources (Game Warden), and worked for the Ministry of Correctional Services at both the Barrie Jail and Hillsdale Farm Camp, where he was the Farm Manager.  Janet & Murray moved to Northern Ontario when Camp Hillsdale closed and Murray became his own Farm Manager for over 20 Years, raising prime beef cattle.  When the farm was sold in 2014 Janet and Murray returned to the Coldwater area to retire.

Murray loved his wife, children and all his grandchildren.  His passion was farming and his best sidekick was his favourite Brittany Spaniel, Palie II.

Murray’s family wish to express their sincere appreciation to the Bayshore Nurses, Paramed, Dr. Ives & Katie at Coldwater Medical Centre, Coldwater Pharmacy & Staff, Pastor John Giurin, and Laird Vanni for their support at this difficult time.
