As Michael's wife I knew Ada for nineteen years, and regarded her as one of my own grandmothers. Although geographical distance prevented us from visiting often, I very much enjoyed our frequent telephone conversations. Among other things, we shared an interest in homekeeping, cooking and gardening. What a dynamo! (The classic joke was how Edgar, leaving for work in the mornings, never knew what color the walls might be painted upon his return.) She had wonderful energy and an independent spirit that I greatly admired. Ada, you taught me a lot. Thank you for the kindness you showed me over the years. I won't forget.

TO THE BENSON FAMILY FROM THE CROMBIE'S MARY JANE AND I WERE SADDENED BY THE NEWS OF ADA'S DEATH . SHE WAS A LONG TIME FRIEND AND COTTAGE NEIGHBOUR ON SIX MILE LAKE .WE LIKE YOUR FAMOLY WILL MISS HER. OUR FAMILY FIRST MET ADA WHEN GUY PURCHASED A LAKE FRONT LOT NEXT DOOR TO EDGAR AND ADA IN THE EARLY NINETEEN FIFTIES. THEY WERE WONDERFUL NEIGHBOURS OFTEN INVITING US FOR ED'S TASTY FISH CHOWDER AND MORE DRINKS MORE TIMES THAN WE CAN REMEMBER. ADA KEPT A CLOSE EYE ON GUY THE BATCHELOR NEXT DOOR AND WAS PLEASED WHEN HE MARRIED MARY JANE IN 1957. SHE TOOK A KEEN INTEREST IN OUR GROWING FAMILY AND ED WAS ALWAYS READY TO HELP WHEN GUY WAS BUILDING OUR COTTAGE. WHEN TIME CAME FOR THEM TO LEAVE THE COTTAGE ON SIX MILE LAKE , ADA ASKED US IF WE HAD ANY FRIENDS OR FAMILY WHO MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN PURCHASING THEIR COTTAGE. THAT IS HOW CAROL AND DON FARNSWORTH CAME TO THE LAKE. THEY BOUGHT A COTTAGE BEFORE THEY PURCHASED A HOME. AFTER SELLING THEIR COTTAGE ED AND ADA CAME BACK TO VISIT THE LAKE MANY TIMES. AFTER ADA SOLD THE HOUSE IN COLDWATER WE WOULD SEE ADA IN COLDWATER. SHE NEVER SEEMED TO CHANGE. ADA WAS ALWAYS FRIENDLY AND ALWAYS THERE WHEN WE NEEDED A FRIEND . I REMEMBER HER LOOKING AFTER BABY JOHN WHEN WE HAD TO TAKE CAROL IN FOR STITCHES AT THE HOSPITAL. IT WAS SO NICE TO HAVE CAROL AND DON NEXT DOOR AFTER THE BENSON'S MOVED TO COLDWATER . BUT WE DID MISS ED AND ADA . WE SEND OUR SYMPATHY AND LOVE GUY AND MARY JANE

Harvey, you will not know me by this name but perhaps Margaret Chalmers will ring a bell. I have so many early memories of your Mom, Dad and yourself from Cedric Avenue. I am saddened to hear of your mother's passing and please know that my heart is with you and your family. I think stars are the windows of heaven and your Mom will be an angel peeking through. Sincerely, Marg Young nee Chalmers
