Obituary of John E. "Jack" Cadeau

Passed away at the Georgetown Hospital on Monday April 27, 2020 at the age of 87, and a resident of Extendicare Halton Hills, Georgetown. Loved father of Dale Cadeau (Lisa) of Delta, B.C., Sharon Cadeau (Huw Spicer) of Shelburne, and Cindy Cadeau (David Baptie) of Georgetown. Loving grandfather of Arisa Cadeau, Lucas Cadeau, Ryan McBride (MaryBeth), Shane McBride, Austyn Cadeau, Dawson Baptie, and Noah Baptie. Great grandfather of Noelle McBride and Maverick McBride. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Jean & Tom Nedley, Karin & Charlie West, and Shirley Cadeau. Predeceased by his parents Henry & Marguerite Cadeau, by his brother Howard Cadeau and by his sister Christie Cadeau. Jack was a Metis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Veteran. When the Koren War broke out, he felt the need to serve his country and in 1953, at the age of 21, he joined the army. After a proud 25 years of service, Sergeant Cadeau retired in 1978. In February 2016, Jack received the Louis Riel medal and certificate, which formerly recognizes him as an MNO Veteran. Also in May 2016, Jack was awarded the Korean Ambassador for Peace Medal. This commemorative medal is an expression of appreciation from the Korean Government to Canadian service men and women who served in the Korean War. Following cremation, a memorial mass will be held at St. John’s R.C. Church, Waubaushene and will be announced at a later date.
