"Thank you for being a friend"
What a special lady we all had the pleasure of knowing.
Shirley, I have only been your friend for half of your 92 years but I have so many memories
of the times we shared, the laughs we had, the silly things we did, our History trips on the back roads
to whatever meeting or function we were going to around Ontario.
We talked on the phone until it was time for bed and we had solve all the worlds problems.
I will miss you so much.
My thoughts are with your children and your family who all loved you so much.

I am very sorry to hear of Shirley's passing. It was always great fun the days that she came in as a supply teacher when I was a student at Coldwater. She had a lovely smile and a warm heart. Thoughts are with you all.

So sorry to hear of Shirley’s passing. Mrs Gleadall was my Teacher in Coldwater, I always looked for her at the Mill when l went to Coldwater. I was Cleaning for Edith French, we started talking about Coldwater and she said she had a Sister there. She says Shirley Gleadall, oh she was my Teacher. She is a very nice Lady. She will be missed. Like many others I was a student of Shirley’s. My most vivid memory of her as a teacher was the day JF Kennedy died. Listening to the radio, following the story and attempting to explain what was happening. As a community member she was present and larger than life. To Jane and Jim and your families plus Bill’s family our prayers and thoughts are with you. Glenna & Mike Tinney

Oh my it was a sad day to hear of your passing Shirley. Such a dear sweet lady. Always up of a good chat or a long phone conversation. I will miss picking your brain for local history stories and family information. Such a good friend, neighbour and mentor to all of us who grew up in the North River area. Another community mom. You were never my teacher but you were my 4H leader and gave me the confidence to speak at our achievement days (that in itself took a lot of tall talking). I had the pleasure of babysitting your children Billy, Jimmy and Jane from time to time and so enjoyed doing so. A one of a kind lady with a a larger than life personality and a very memorable laugh. Always so chipper. Rest in Peace Shirley and say hi to our Momma for me. Condolences to all Shirley's family. Helen and Chuck Givens (Archer)

Our deepest condolences to the extended family. She will forever be Mrs Gleadall to me.
She was a monumental influence in my life. She taught with a sense of fun. Occasionally siting on my desk and asking the class to open their desks to take out the next lessons text book.
She would look down at me and politely ask if I would like her to move.
She was everyone’s favourite teacher.

Jane, Jim and your families.
We are sorry to here of your mom’s passing. She was like the everyready bunny. Shirley was my teacher the day JFK was killed. Even years later she would remember what we were wearing. I had a call from her just before she moved from her home. Someone had asked her a question and she wasn’t certain of the answer and wanted to know if I had any of my dad’s notes to verify it. I didn’t. Her answer was “ oh well I’ll keep digging.
You have many memories of your mom and dad, keep them close so you can pull them out when you really need them .

My condolences for the loss of a wonderful teacher. I had the great luck to have her for grade one. I was taught a real lesson when Bobby Vivian and I didn’t do as we were told. We learned real fast when we received the strap. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
