Sincere condolences to Charlie's family and friends. I worked with Charlie for many years at Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital. In many ways, he was a staple inside those four walls. You always knew that he would be front and center to help in any situation.
He led by example, he listened when things were going sideways and offered solutions. He made us laugh when we needed some stress relief. His heart was so big and his kindness overflowed. There will never be another Charlie------God broke the mold.

Charlie was the light of Soldiers for so many years. He was always willing to lend a hand or brighten everyone’s day with a cheery hello or a sympathetic ear!

Charlie was a true gentleman and was loved by so many ER nurses in Orillia . He was literally our saving grace in so many instances- whether it was deescalating a situation - as only Charlie could do- or escorting us to our cars after a tough. night shift( where our cars were always cleared of snow .
He will be truly missed .
Charlie was one of a kind.
Sending love and condolences to Jimmy and family.

I don’t have many regrets in life, but losing touch with Charlie over the years is one of them. He was a big influence in the way I carried myself at work, and of who I am today. Rest In Peace my old friend. No doubt you’ll be using those clouds in the sky as a sweat towel!

To the Rankin Family
My sincere condolences. Charlie was the kindest, gentlest and funniest man that I have ever known. We worked together at OSMH for many years and he was always looking out for the staff. Charlie was there for me on many occasions, whether for a chat or a hug when things got tough. I am saddened by his passing but know he is in a better place. I will miss him immensely as I know everyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting him, will too.

I learned a lot from this man as a young 19 year old starting a career in security. He showed me the ropes around OSMH, introduced me to everyone with his gift of gab, humour and charm. He taught me to not put up with patients, visitors or staff when they were being disrespectful to healthcare professionals. I learned some good quiet places from him to put your feet up between rounds and had a good chuckle when he’d recline a Gerry chair and block a patients door on a constant watch while he had a nap claiming “if they want to leave they’d have to climb over me first.” When he left OSMH, I stopped by whenever I drove by his place and he’d always have a cold beer waiting for me. Charlie was one of a kind and a true joy to work with. RIP buddy. Thanks for being a great partner over the years.
