Uncle Gerry, I remember all the wonderful holiday dinners at your house and how you and mom would quarrel over who got the pope’s nose versus the giblets. The food was always good and the company even better. I miss those times and your warm and generous spirit.

Thinking of how he was such a presence in any room, that people stopped to listen without the need for a raised voice. Here was always someone who was going to make sense and bring order to a situation.
The trailer just back from repair already resting its nose, and how we watched him drive by, and thought he didn’t see. But then he came back. He said he needed to get his coffee first.
Another damaged truck by someone who was out of his depth, and the measured response: “If a fella doesn’t know what he’s doing, he’s best to leave it alone.”
The trip to Nova Scotia that couldn’t be done because there were no provincial licenses and no available drivers. But a few hours later, the truck was rolling to Nova Scotia.
Thinking of a new truck delivered over 30 years ago with a gentle joke inscribed on the bug deflector installed by the manufacturer who was a friend, because that’s what everyone became.
“Beauty & The Beast.”
Gerry only said: “Well look at that.” But it was gone the next day, and I wonder where it is now.
Grateful for the memories.

We are saddened by the news of Gerry's passing and our thoughts go out to Shirley, Steve, Pam and Michael. Gerry will forever be in my memories .Growing up so close to the Funk family I had the privilege of be around Gerry for most of my life. Gerry always treated me well with no exceptions. I admired his strong work ethic and business mind. Further, I always admired his friendship with my father. I remember clearly one of the first faces I saw 24yrs ago now on the passing of my father. It was Gerry walking strong and steady up the driveway to offer his comfort and support to his close buddies family. His demonstration of loyalty and support to a friend was impressive and unique. Being around Gerry for me was always a learning process. I will forever be thankful for the amount of time Gerry took over the many years to indulge in the discussions and laughs we've shared.
Gerry.... you will live on in our hearts and minds forever. I hope you and Al are sitting side by side having a few laughs reminiscing.

Condolences to Shirley, Steve, Pam and Mike (and all of the grandchildren), Gerry taught me the true value of honest hard work, and was a model of grit and determination. A gentle giant, a caring family man, kind and generous. A great, great man. His influence on my young life was immense and immeasurable. They don't make 'em like this anymore. RIP G.M. Funk

Some of my dearest memories transport me back to the summers spent with Gerry and his family in Midland—a period defined by pure joy and carefree adventures. Being a kid at Gerry's cottage felt like stepping into a magical world. Each day began with Shirley preparing a massive breakfast for everyone; the enticing aroma of pancakes and bacon filled the air, setting the stage for the day ahead.
Our afternoons were a whirlwind of exciting activities: jumping off the dock into the lake, waterskiing and tubing, boating adventures, and trying our luck at fishing. Evenings were a time for coming together. Around a bonfire, we'd gather to share stories and relish the simple pleasure of roasted marshmallows. As the sun set, we'd watch the sky light up with fireworks.
The Guildford kids (myself, Jason, Amy, Nikki, and Chad) all hold wonderful memories, courtesy of Gerry and his big heart. Rest in peace to one of the sweetest, gentlest souls I have ever met. The Guildford family is truly grateful for this man.

Our deepest condolences to Shirley, Stephen,
Pamela and Michael
Gerald will always be remembered with love and respect. I was so lucky and blessed to have been part of his life. Spend a lot of time in the summers growing up with him on the trucks hauling. We always enjoyed getting together to play cards and and a glass or two of wine.
Rest in piece dear uncle.
