Obituary of Brian James Borrow

Please share a memory of Brian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

aka “Sheepy” and “The Bunny”

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Brian James Borrow, son of the late Stephen and Noreen Borrow.  Survived by his beloved partner Ann Fulford Fox and her children Cassandra Fox (Florian Storck) and Sean Fox and predeceased by Ann’s mother Zoe Fulford.  Beloved brother of Roseann Blake (predeceased by Ted) and partner Doug Frith, Elizabeth Borrow, Mary Ellen Deneau. Beloved nephew of Bernice Kilburn. Proud Uncle of Edward Blake (Jennifer), Katherine Blake, Stephen Deneau (predeceased), Alyssa Deneau (Jordan Wood). Great-Uncle to Olivia and Liam Blake, Felix Fox- Storck and Audrey Wood.

Brian lived and worked on the family century farm, where he cared for his beloved sheep flock and all of the animals we brought home to him, which flourished under his care. Brian was a life-long member of the Ontario Sheep Association and was instrumental in the development of Sheep Association policies and procedures. Brian happily embraced his role as a father figure and mentor to his niece Alyssa. Under his guidance, Alyssa learned animal husbandry, machine operation and sustainable agricultural, which she will continue on their family farm. Brian was known for his willingness to always help and mentor friends and neighbours when they needed a helping hand. Brian will be sadly missed by his cousins, neighbours and many, many friends. He was a strong advocate for women and especially encouraging to women in agriculture. Brian was passionate about minimizing our carbon footprint for future generations through sustainable agriculture practices, and he embraced innovation and change. Even when things didn’t go as planned, he would “stick-handle” out of it and persevere. Brian’s last moments were spent in the barn caring for his animals, he went out with his boots on – the only way he would have wanted it. A life well lived.

The family will honour Brian’s life with a Memorial Mass at St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, Waubaushene on Friday November 8th at 1pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Coldwater Legion from 2-5pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Brian can be made to the Severn Township Public Library, Coldwater for books on sustainable agricultural practices, or to a charity of your choice and can be made through the Funeral Home.
