Obituary of John Gourlie

Passed away suddenly, but peacefully at his home in Coldwater with his loving wife Isabella at his side at the age of 81, on Friday June 3, 2011. Will be missed by his children Steve (Sandy) of Cochrane, Alberta, David (Cynthia) of Scarborough and the late Wendy Cadeau, his stepchildren Joyce Montagnese (Albert) of Kingston, Janis Montagnese (late Joe) of Newmarket, and Kenneth English of Toronto. Loved grandfather of Tanya, Tara, Danielle, Alana, Ryan, Lindsay, Lucas, Francis, Isa, Karina, Alexandra, and Jasmine. Brother of Hank of Bobcaygeon, Ruth Sherwood of Scarborough, Joyce Cameron of Trenton and predeceased by his brothers Jim and Bob. John was retired from the Toronto Police Services after 35 years of service, served 5 years with the Royal Canadian Navy, member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #270, Coldwater, member of the Coldwater Lions Club, member of the Canadian Naval Air Group "CNAG", member of the Toronto Sea Cadet Alumni Association and a member of the Naval Club of Toronto. Following cremation, the family will celebrate John's life at the Coldwater Legion, Coldwater on Saturday June 11th from 2-4pm. As an expression of sympathy, donations in memory of John may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #270, Coldwater "Poppy Fund" or to the Canadian Cancer Society and may be made through the COLDWATER FUNERAL HOME, Coldwater (705-686-3344 or 1-888-645-5485).
