Susanne and I are so sorry that we are unable to attend today and spend this time saying good-bye to Barry with you, his family.
Growing up, I remember Barry being a fixture around the fire hall, funeral home and old ambulance base in Woodbridge...... he was truly an important part of our extended family. Grandpa and Dad thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated his support through the years. No matter what was going on Barry was always there and could always be counted on.
Many years later while working at the Scott Funeral Home in Barrie, he met a young funeral student named Susanne Pretty and used to tell her that one day the sign outside would say "Scott-Pretty" or "Pretty-Scott" Funeral Home. Clearly he had a crystal ball hidden somewhere as years later I met and subsequently married Susanne Pretty and together we own the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Homes which purchased what was then the Scott Funeral Home in Barrie.
Susanne and I would see Barry here and there about town and reminisce. He was and still is an important part of my family history.
On behalf of the entire Scott family past and present we wish you all a wonderful, meaningful memorial service and many fond memories today and every day.
Most sincerely,
Jeff & Susanne Scott

Katie, Scott, and all of Barry’s family, we are so truly sorry for your loss. It is not often that a person demonstrates so clearly from the first time you meet them that they have touched the lives of so many people and is loved so dearly. From the first time I met Barry, his love for you Katie shone so bright, and over the past 8 years I have seen your love for him shine just as strong. While his passing is devastating, we hope you all find comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering, and that he did not go a single minute feeling alone or unloved. The support he has shown you was reciprocated in his time of need, and I have no doubt that he is proud, happy, and at peace. The road ahead will not be an easy one without him, but please know you have 2 more people with you no matter what you need. You are always in our thoughts and prayers, and we love you so so much.

Hello. I am so saddened by the news of Barry's passing. I had the honour of working with him at Scotts Funeral Home in Barrie Ontario. He was such a joy to be around and truly supported me during a difficult time of my life. He did teach me this......turn the page, and start a new chapter.
My heart is sad tonight.
With the deepest sympathy.
