Betsy, we are so very sorry to read about your dad, I do remember how close you two were. 99 is a good age, my mom made it to 94. John and I are thinking of you. Stay strong Betsy. Love Lori, John, and Teddy Scapinello.

So sorry to hear about Bob’s passing. After my father passed away, without being asked, Bob started to shovel the snow from Mom’s sidewalk. The walk was always clear by the crack of dawn and Mom finally realized Bob was the Good Samaritan when she awoke early one morning and saw him leaving with his shovel over his shoulder. That story is indicative of the many others that all neighbours of Bob can tell. His sense of humour and willingness to spend time with the kids in the area ( of which I was fortunate to be one) earned him the reputation of being the coolest adult in the hood. So glad we lived in your neighbourhood, Bob.

Bob Mackinnon holds a very special place in my heart. Thinking of Bob makes me smile and laugh. The memories of my Dad, Len Curran and Bob working on a task together was very entertaining. Their friendship was one of great humour and always trying to be the one who knew the way to get the task done, not necessarily the best way or the safest way. I’m thinking of Bob up above rejoining with his pals and loved ones again ….and they’re off once again on a task. Bob and Mum talking about current events and politics. Bob you’ll be missed but also happy for you that you’ve moved on and can view your beloved Cape Breton from above. Thanks for bringing a special spark and spirit to my life ❤️. Everyone meets 1 or 2 great people in their lifetime and the Mayor of Alma Street is in my top 2, he did many special things for lots of families on our street and he was always there for anyone in need. It was an honor to know you Bob.

Though we collectively mourn the lose of Robert, it's somewhat comforting to know that heaven just got a lot funnier. Yes, he was my uproarious childhood neighbour and my grandfather's jovial mate; making us all chuckle despite gray days. We'll remember his laughter ringing out across our yards, bringing genuine joy in its wake. As we bid him farewell, let's do so with smiles reflecting his signature wit and infectious mirth.
