Our memories of Si and Sue go back to the mid 1960’s at their little home beside the Shanty Bay golf course.
We enjoyed golf, parties, traveling, a little business and watching our families grow up.
In later years we had great times with Si and Marnie in Florida.
Si was a super guy who shared his thoughts about golf, hockey and world events with us.
We have enjoyed 50 plus years of a special friendship that we will not forget.

Steve and Scott - Very sorry to hear about your dad. My best memory of him was turning around in centre field and seeing him standing behind the fence quietly cheering and giving words of encouragement to us. He will be missed.

Steve, Scott, and families,
Very sorry to hear of your father's passing. I remember meeting Si quite young at the Wellington plaza (back when we used to get the cheese and cracker cases). I then remember him and I working the home base at dad's shop for the BMHA bottle drive. I was probably 10, and he completely treated me like an adult. Those memories, and the many road hockey and baseball games with the Ottaway crowd were the foundations of competition!!
My thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.

Steve played goal for the Barrie Colts when I was coaching and it was during this time that I had the privilege of meeting and learning to appreciate his father’s positive attitude and willingness to help whenever given an opportunity. He was the ideal goaltender’s father always positive and on the surface always calm and collected. Over the years I was able to share many enjoyable experiences with him.Rest in piece ,you will be missed.

Si was an amazing man and golfer with that flexible swing of his, I was fortunate enough to share a special event with him. We got talking one day during golf and for whatever reason I asked him when was he born and he said 14th December 1941 at 4 20 am. That rang a bell and although I was born in Scotland my birth certificate read 14th December 1941 at 4.20 am. "My deepest sympathies to all of Si's family’s he was such a wonderful man.

We are all so sad with the passing of Uncle Si .
Not only could he make a hook shot work on the golf course he could do it on the pool table in the old shop as well .
Thank you for all the great times and even greater memories.
Rest in peace

What can I say to justify the man, the legend…Si Laurin. He was the ultimate gentleman and always had a smile on his face. He loved his golf and his golfing buddies. I was always amazed at how well he could hit the ball with that cross handed grip. He will be missed by many as Si had a big personality and following. Kindest heart…Rest in peace, Si! Your little buddy, Tracey
